I am a Childminder.

I have been cm for almost 5 yrs. I have a NVQ 3 qual in Childcare Learning and Development.

I looking at the options opened to me in other areas. Has anyone finished cm and done something else with the experience gained. I would like to work with kids/families etc. Family support worker

Family Support Work would be a great place to start - (you could then progress into specialist nursing or social work if you wanted to!). What are your interests? are you interested in learning how to support children with learning or other disabilities? or are you interested in learning how to support disadvantaged families? Families affected by illness or violence or children wanting to play sport! Any of these areas require people who really care about outcomes and really want to make a difference to peoples lives! You would need to do further training - but you may be able to work in the job and train at the same time...

There is also an option of becoming a Teaching assistant in a school, you can start by volunteering in a school... you would have to do specific training for this too, but if you showed aptitude as a volunteer the school could well take you on paid and fund training... (not so many future option s as family support work though IMO.)

I suggest you get in touch with your local council regarding roles in Education and social care locally/ volunteering opportunities locally and also contact the NHS Careers service for advice.

Gardening, drawing, reading, coooking,

Years ago I did work for Gingerbread (project worker) loved it. I did the arty stuff and help set up courses for the single parents. Had to leave as it was only for a while.

Got quals in office and reception work (do not really want to work in an office environment as such)

Done lots of different jobs over the years.

I would like to work within a project helping kids, teens or even the elderly.

Would also consider working within the fostering environment.

Basically I would love to make a difference in the lives of others.
