Hi there,

I am completly desperate as I have to find a childminder for my baby who is 5 months old.
Does anyone can recommend me a great childminder in Crouch End/ muswell hill area?
I need someone for 4 days a week.

Thank you so much for your advice

If you contact the council they should have a list of registered childminders in your area. You can then contact them to see who has spaces.

Childcare.co.uk also has a lot of childminders listed.

Many thanks

The majority of childminders are going to be full, especially for a baby. You're better off trying finding out who (if any) have spaces and then going from there.
Alternatively, there's a nice nursery called Active Learning in Crouch end, but it is very expensive. There's lots of nanny shares about too. I seem to remember people advertised for share partners in the jackson's lane centre (although this was a couple of years ago).
Hope you sort something out.

I agree with Karo, the chances of finding a childminder with space for a 5 month old baby at short notice on recommendation is quite low (unless you know lots of people that use childminders, but I'm guessing you don't).

You're best off finding out which childminders have spaces and then asking to see references and to speak with the parents that are currently using them.

You could maybe go to some playgroups/children's centres, you're almost certian to encounter both childminders and parents who use childminders.

you are probably right. I will call some of them this week-end and see.

I have an appointment with Active learning on wednesday to visit the Nursery. It seems to be an amazing one with exctly what i am looking for: separated bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and playroom but in the same time I don't know if it's not gonna be too big and noisy...

Does any one has any opinion on this nursery? I know that it's expensive...

thanks!

I don't know Active learning, but I wouldn't use a nursery for a 5 month old.

Hi, are you in Crouch end or Muswell Hill? We are looking for a new nanny share family in Muswell Hill

i commented on your other thread under nurseries - but if i can give you one piece of advice, as a qualified nursery nurse with experience working in many nurseries and now as a childminder = it would be a good childminder is far preferable to a nursery for a 5 month old. A 5 month old baby in a nursery 4 days a week will not have it's basic needs met, the most fundamental of these being able to bond with one carer.
