Temporary, part time nanny - do they exist?

I'm starting to wonder whether I am looking for something that doesn't exist and would be grateful to be told one way or another whether I'm being unrealistic. I need to have an operation with a 6 week recovery period, during which I won't be able to lift my children, bend to change nappies etc. They both attend nursery 4 days a week so I just want someone to get the kids out of bed, dressed and to nursery and then bring them home again in the afternoons. On Friday they don't attend nursery so it would be a full day of looking after the children. All the agencies I have spoken to are telling me that nobody will want to do the nursery runs, although I am happy to pay up to 6hrs wages on Mon-Thurs. Do I need to revise my job spec? Have I got this badly wrong?

Sounds a bit like what I'm doing at the moment. So yes you could find someone - problem is you need before and after nursery care. So day is maybe 7/730am to 5:630 and although children are at nursery 6hrs a day isn't enough wages for an average person to survive on

Saying that its 24hrs a week and if literally drop off after nursery it sounds easy money - but personally I couldn't survive on that

The only reason I can in this job is that I work nights as a night nanny at the moment so this job I'm doing is extra pocket money - but only agreed to do it while working nights for this family

What happens when they come home from nursery / does the temp nanny need to bath and put them to bed or is dad about then?

Maybe you could speak to someone at their nursery and see it get would be interested in earning some extra money?

Most temp nannies like myself are SE so need to discuss a gross wage

Thank you so much blondes the idea about the nursery staff was inspired. I spoke with the manager this morning and 3 of the staff have agreed to share it between them, problem solved! Thank you.
