hi all. i had my first ofsted insp on 8th feb. went very well(better than i expected). however last week i still hadnt had my report through. rang ofsted and they tols me that the inspector had gone on long term sick leave the day after my insp(nothing to do with me!!!!). they said she has everything on her laptop and promised i would have the report at the beginning of this week. havent had a thing! called them today and said they would call me back but havent. im a bit frustrated because i want to be able to show parents my report. had a family round on sat and was unable to show them. they have other minders to see before they make a decision on a childminder. has anyone else had any problems like this?? its been nearly 3 months since my inspection.

I would put something in writing to OFSTED rather than ringing them. And be jolly cross too.

It is totally unacceptable that you are having to wait for your report, particularly as they are potentially losing you clients.

Perhaps you could ring the NCMA for advice?

yeah maybe i should. the inspector was really nice though and the lady ive spoken to was really nice. i dont want them to think im a moody old cow. i didnt know if it was a normal thing for it to be so long or if i was being a bit impatient. but the more i think about it the more i think its really out of order. they didnt even contact me to let me know that the insp was off on sick and that it would be taking longer than normal.

I would phone again to find out if she's still away, in which case try and get a name of who is responsible for completing your registration. Follow it up with a letter or email naming the person you spoke to on the phone and point out you are losing business from this delay.

Good luck

i would forget how friendly they are, and be JOLLY CROSS. they are useless as you may have seen in my other threads. Iwaited 6 months to receive my report through, and my inspector was not off sick.

zoeuk1 · 28/04/2006 12:12

right. had a phone call yesterday from the inspector that did my inspection. she said how sorry she is etc. she apologised several times. she said that i will definately receive my report next week. she said it has now been written out and completed etc,so i'll wait and see.
