Childminders do you do pick ups from after school clubs?

At present I only do one after school pick up. My son is doing this with one of the boys I childmind.

I go to pick at school, come home and sort snacks out then out again to pick up for five. Its not always easy as all the cm kids have to come whether rain or shine. (walking)

The school my son goes to has before school, during school and after school activities. I cannot commit to before school drop offs or anymore after school pick ups.

Do you drop off to clubs before school or pick up from clubs after school?

Thanks in advance.

I don't have older ones at the moment but when I used to have lots the rule was I only went to each school once so they all decided together whether to do an after school activity or not eg everybody stayed to a club for an hour on monday or nobody did. This included my own children. I also gave parents the option that if their child wanted to do the opposite that was fine but they had to organise their child getting to me.

I did once agree to pick up after an after school sports club as my DS was happy to go too and I only had the one after school at the time, but I wouldn't want to do that as a rule. Like Lesbianmummy I only do one school run so it would now mean everyone would have to agree on whether they wanted to go to the club or not as it's not fair to drag the babies out twice. It's not something I am keen to do as it does make preparing and serving tea before pickups more of a squeeze. I would also charge my standard fee as the child is still taking a place as well as costing me to have my DS attend

I do, BUT, only because my dh is my registered assistant so he does the early morning drop off on his way to work. Also the only after school activity I have agreed to pick up from is for one of my minded children who only attends my setting every 4th Thursday & he will be doing the activity this term only, therefore I have driven up to the school to collect him on the occasions I've needed to. I normally walk to the school as I think it is better for the children to walk to & from school, i am fortunate that on a Thursday two of my younger children leave before I have to go up to school to do the later pick up & I don't always have to do an earlier pick up that day either.

I do, but I restrict it to one per child and only if we can accommodate it. I work with DH so we can be flexible.

Had a situation a few years ago where we spent our afternoons chasing around town for one child, picking him up and dropping him off to various clubs and activities. We're not a taxi service!

Thank you everyone.

In the past when my son was in the infant school, I cm two other children his age. A club was due to start. My son wanted to attend and one of the mindees too. I thought the other one would want to do it too, but he did not want to. This created a problem as I had to go to pick from the infants then go to the junior school (different site) to pick up. I had to either hang around with the kids to pick up from the infants again or I may have gone home to rush back out again. This was hard work

I can appreciate parents wanting their kids to attend after school clubs but it is not always possible for the cm to do it. I had to explain this recently as someone wanted me to do a after school pick up.

I will stick to the one pick up from club after school.
