hi was just wondering about the new car seat law, that everyone under 11 or 12 should be in a car seat. the only thing is some of my older kids weigh too much for the boosters but are only 8yo. have just weighed the 2 i have this afternnon and one is 30kgs which is ok and she has a maxi cosi rodi but the other one is 46kgs and the top weight i have found for a booster is 36kgs.what do i do then? do you not use it as car seats should be bought by weight, but what if i get stopped by the police? help!!

don't know about the weight thing but I know the child has to be at least 1.5m tall even if they are 11 otherwise they still have to use the boosters.

sorry not much help.

New regulations governing the use of child car seats are due to come into force in September 2006\link{http://www.dft.gov.uk/stellent/groups/dft_rdsafety/documents/page/dft_rdsafety_611257.hcsp\here}

if the child is over 1.35cm tall then the law wont apply... (although it recommended until 1.5 m OR 36kg.... sounds liek your biggest child is pretty much adult size so an adult seat belt, designed for adults (ie people who are adult size will protect him as he sounds like the size of a small adult anyway!

also the law only covers children up to 10, under 1.35m..... rather than the guidelines which are 1.5m and 11 years
