Hi all,
this is my first post on here and could do with a little help. I have recently found out that a nanny friend of mine has been ofsted inspected and now Im a little worried. I wasnt aware that ofsted inspected nannies!!!! I am ofsted registered on the voluntary part of the register and what to know what policies and procedures do ofsted expect you to have?????? Ive been a nanny for about 4 years and iv had no advice or any information regarding what ofsted require other than the main 3 - insurance, first aid and some sort of childcare qualification.

if anyone could enlighten me that would be fantastic!!

Bump for later.....

Nothing happens really..the inspector will ask to see your qualification certificate, first aid and insurance. They will probably then ask you a few questions about safeguarding and that's it. it's nothing like a cm inspection and you don't need all the policies etc.

Google "Mranchovy nanny ofsted" for a summary of what you are required to do. It might be a good idea to keep a print out of this handy because there are reports of Ofsted inspectors being poorly trained.

You don't have to allow them to inspect at your home, they must write and ask you for permission. There is nothing for them to inspect at your home anyway.

As a (former) nanny employer, I would politely refuse them entry into my home. If they want to talk to my nanny elsewhere on her own time, that's up to her.
