I've had a general google but they're all quite far away! I know they must exist in my area but I don't know how to find them. What am I doing wrong?

We have a Children and Families information service run by our Local Authority, they have all the details and will make initial calls on your behalf.

I've also seen cards upo in supermarkets, children's centres etc. Local childminder here have their own business FB pages too, so have a look there.

childcare.co.uk
you can search by postcode.
You need to pay to view messages, but if you just view a CM's profile, they will get a message saying that you've viewed and they will then be able to message your profile as they will have paid ( if that makes sense!)
basically, view the cM profiles and wait for them to reply to you. The ones with a bit of sense will then include their 'phone number etc.

Start with contacting your local Family Information Service - run by your local or county council. They will have a list of Registered Childminders.

Some local authorities also list some (but not all) Registered Childminders on www.openfamilyservices.org.uk

It may be hard to work out which childminders are very close to you, as some data such as full postcode may not be available. On-line systems may give you an indication of how many miles away someone is but it is not precise as will be calculated on a birds-flight basis, not via roads.

Once you have a list of childminders, call them to establish exactly where they are, if they have availability to take your child/children, collect from the school your children attend, find out about costs and what is and is not included in that cost.

Why do people not come back after starting a thread?

cece · 04/08/2012 20:57

There is a list on our local coucil website here.

Are you looking close to your house or close to your work?

panadbois maybe they have kids to look after. Or maybe sarky posters put them off.

Panadbois · 05/08/2012 20:33

That wasn't sarky by my standards Karoleann, just a question.

local children's centres, childcare.co.uk, or if you are in Liverpool call me!
