Finding my Level 3 CYPW hard going.

I've been in childcare for years and did all the relevent qualifcations along the way. Our nursery manager wants us all to do the new level 3 CYPW qualification (which is fine, she is paying for it) but blimey, I'm finding it hard going, there seems to be so much written work and finding the time is a nightmare. Is it me? Please tell me I'm not the only one!

Do you have the Childrens and Young Peoples Workforce book??? It makes it much easier... in fact is essential!!! What module are you doing?? how many have you completed!!!! I'm nearly at the end of mine... but was given unit 22 to start... without correct guidance or support ... i wanted to cry and spent about 3 months doing it because i had no idea what i was doing...

Yes I do have it and I've just sent off for the Tassoni one too which I hope will help. I'm prob just over half way through it but I really want to finish it by Christmas, it just seems very 'wordy' and I feel as though I am constantly repeating myself!

Hmmmm.... The book will help... I wouldn't even pick it up until ur book arrives... read the chapter 1st.. then tackle the unit... it is very very repetitive... i guess they just want to be sure you remember it...
Also a good assessor is helpful... i'm on my 4th... getting a appointment with god seems easier than with her... although she is a lovely lady... ;-)

Yeah I know what you mean, mine is lovely but not exactly easy to track down!

I'm finding mine difficult too, mainly because it's so sodding repetitive and you have to try reword everything! My current assessor doesn't seem to be reading my assignments when u manage to hand them in at the moment so I'm asking her questions but she's not answering them a sheseems to be skipping half of my sodding work. I'm months behind though so she's understandably annoyed Blush

I bought a few books about theorists toowhich were helpful!

I have a workpack my NVQ assessor prepared for me for Unit 022 on the theroists if anyone wants me to email it. PM me and I can do it tonight. Also got some bits on 067, 030 and 064. And a bit on 079.

I'll have a dig through my emials tonight and see if there is anything else.

Also, ask if you can do some by professional discussion, it saves on a lot of writing, but I know some assessors don't like them as it's more work for them. I did about half of mine like this, it saved hours of writing up notes.

And the Penny Tassimo book was fantastic, a really good starting point for all the units, I would definately recomend it.

Unit 22.... What a nightmare... i hadn't been in the education stream for 28 years and they throw this as my 1st unit.... I also have some nice work for this if anyonwe would like to take a look...
Anyone on 115???

I appreciate your experience but you sound disgruntled in the fact that you need to pursue futher studies and you are having some problems. Would you go to a another practioner(e.g dentist , social worker, p.c and not expected them to have continued further studies? I hardly think so. As a reflective, empathatic person i am sure you will continue to study and maintain your present high standards. Professonal child care has never been renumiated to the level of other careers, and there are debates proceeding re-evaluating child-care qualifications. Think it would be a retro-grade step to say child-care workers dont need qualifications(e.g old post slamming the idea of care workers needing a levels)> Currently, the nqq scheme does not compare to the old NNEB currucli- students get placed in just one or two placements and thats it!

Try SilkySteps forum, it can help you understand the questions better and what assessors are looking for. I have recently finished it and some units are easier than others. I am sure you will soon get into the swing.

Hi ther
I've just started mine doing it online and yes it is quite daunting. I think you just have to keep reading stuff over and over again to understand it all and to word it right. If you want to get in touch any time I'd be happy to hear from you
