Is it just me or does anybody else feel that day cares close to early, I will be starting back to work in december and I will be doing just 2 full days but starting only at 11 or 12 and working through till the evening. My husband will be picking up the children from an after school day care, when we actually find one that opens untill 6.30 pm as he only finishes work at 5.30 and takes an hour to commute.

I have found this problem where ever I have lived. I dont know anybody who generally gets home earlier than that when they have to commute to a full time job.

Im living in coquitlam in vancouver bc canada at the moment and I was told it was better for families here, but it doesnt seem better in this respect.

UK is the same. 8am-6pm is typical though some places open earlier.

Have you tried Home Daycare - or whatever the Canadian equiv of a Childminder is? Here in UK some childminders (they care for several children in a home environment, minders home not the childs home) may provide care later and some even do overnight.

I'd recommend a childminder every time - they are much more flexible than daycare, and it's nicer for the child to be in a home enviromnent anyway (imo)
