Im starting a nannying job soon and am really confused about who should buy carseats & pushchair?? the family's pushchair is too big to fit in my car so we made a joint decision to buy a second hand one.

I have found that Isofix is not as universial as it is meant to be... my car has Isofix points and I was going to buy a base (for a rear facing seat in this particular instance) and according to the carseat manufacturer their base had been tested in the model of car that I have... yet when it came to fitting... it didn't fit.

Isofix Bases - useless when they don't fit. Useless when they are not universal fitting... an Isofix carseat does not fit every car with Isofix points. International Standards Organisation FIX - yet for some reason some seats only fit in some positions and may not even fit at all. Nice concept but Useless until car manufacturers ensure it is really a Standard.

I agree with nick; isofix is NOT as universal as it should be having isofix does NOT mean that you can definitely use any isofix child seat (or base)

my car also has isofix, and stupid floor storage... which means that actually you cant use most isofic bases that have a foot pole

there are NO stage 0 isofix car seats that safely fit in my car, and at stage 1, there is only 1 of the market which is safe to use on the isofix points in my car.

This is a citroen xsara picasso so certainly not an odd or wierd or uncommon family car.

Have solved this problem.. Parents are supplying carseats - one booster & a carry baby one until baby needs to go forward facing then we are all going to hunt for one for my car which will stay there. Thanks soo much for all your help x

maxi cosi and britax have things on their website that tells you if a particular car seat fits your car

this can be a good place to start,(ie rule out ones which they tell you doesnt) then as nick says, you can go and checking if it actually fits your car Smile
