Proposed deregulation of childminders

The Department for Education and Ofsted are in discussion with the National Childminding Asociation (NCMA) about the proposal to 'deregulate' c/ms. This may lead to c/ms falling under the umbrella of an agency and losing the right to be individually inspected by ofsted. C/ms are very worried about issues of safeguarding and quality of care.
This has been reported in the media by the Daily Mail and The Guardian last week.

C/ms have started a campaign led by the NCMA against deregulation: 'Individual Inspections Matter' which can be found on their website www.ncma.org.uk. A survey of c/ms has found out that 85% want to remain regulated and equally recognized along other providers. C/ms in each area are campaigning many with petitions and approaching their local MP

Yes plenty of rhetoric from Teather and no straight answers....poor Meg she looked bored and shifting in her seat....I sent her an email today saying thank you for her involvement

Labour started Childcare Commission many months ago...strangely Cameron followed with same idea...Teather in charge ...so result dubious.
Labour's Commission is headed by Yvette Cooper, Women shadow minister..hope for more bite there.

I am going to Labour's Childcare Commission event this Thursday...any questions anyone would like answered?
Hopefully we will discover, and input, in what the opposition plans to do for childcare

Can you tell us a bit more about the Commission? It's difficult to frame questions without knowing what their remit is and how much influence they will have.
Sorry to be stupid, but I don't really understand the politics side of it all.

You don't need all the tracking codes on that link so just www.labour.org.uk/childcarecommission will do, and if you click the Convert links automatically box, it will make it clickable :D

I don't think for one minute that we will be de-regulated.

Can you imagine the uproar at the first child protection issue that raised its head????? Its not worth the risk to the Govt
