I've been minding for almost a year now and am looking at further qualifications. Has anyone done an NVQ level 3 and if so who did you use and how much did it cost? Any recommendations and advice greatly appreciated!

The NVQ3 has been replaced by the Diploma for the children and young people's workforce - just so you search for the right thing Smile

One of my staff is doing her level 3 with a company called Parenta. Its on line with the assessor coming out to do the observations. Its fully funded by Parenta, not sure how, but it is. The other one is doing it through our LA and thats fully funded, with the assessor coming into the setting twice a month for about 2 hours a time to look at her work and do observations.

I have just started NVQ3 with Parenta. Is hasn't cost me a penny (except £20 I spent on book from Amazon). They get the funding from the government (don't ask me how as I have no clue). A few other minders have signed up with them. It seems pretty good almost too good to be true. I suggest you ring them and ask if you could use them too ... there is an initial visit to fill out the funding application form and do test in maths and English (nothing to worry about it was all dead easy). It is free so you have nothing to lose ....
