Hi everyone, I am currently a nanny but expecting first baby and moving soon.

I was wondering if I would be able to reg as a childminder in the future, ( hoping to stay nannying for a bit longer) we are moving to a large two bed first floor massionette. So lots of room for sleeping eating playing etc, one flight of stairs up from the front door.

My parents have been childminders for over 30 yrs so I know all the ins and outs of it, but would ofsted allow me to childmind in a massionette?

Thanks

Yes. You will need to have access to outdoor space but that could be a local park.

Yes as long as you can manage all your minded children to go upstairs at the same time - if you have a double buggy can you take it upstairs, how would you manage all the children safely up/down etc and have risk assessment for the stairs. Also your fire evacuation will have to mention it. It's not an obstacle as such, but Ofsted will want to know how you will take children up and down safely.

I used to childmind from a second floor flat.

You just need to show that all of the children's needs can be met from your setting. This will include daily access to an outdoor area but it does not need to be freeflow so you could plan to go to a park together every day whatever the weather.

Hi thanks, we will have shared access to the rear garden with the flat downstairs. And parks nearby.
