when you arrive at school, and do you and teacher sign the same book to say you've got them back again at the end of the school day?

No, but I do stay in the playground until they have gone through the door of school, at that point they become the responsibility of the school.

No again I wait until they go in. Would just be adding unnecessary paperwork to the pile I already have to do.
