I've been in daycare mainly, but now a cm. Ofsted like to see how you would furthur each child's development, appropriate activities, observations and planning. You could incorporate all by doing activity sheets, include activity, areas of learning that it would meet, your aim from the learning journal, observation of activity and finally the next steps you would take to furthur or encourage the child plus name and date with photos.

Record what you did with the child in a diary (or however you like). Link it to areas of learning and plan next steps. Keep it simple, or you'll never keep it up.

Good luck

When u say link, do I just tick or mark the area of learning, or do I have to write next stage of development as per age?

I write my daily diary for each child, including any little observations along the way, as well as routine stuff like food. On my copy (I use a duplicate book), I scribble notes about whether it links to numeracy, literacy, etc. I stick photos with it and jot down plans/next steps about once a week.

Everyone does it differently, so find what works best for you.

Some people have a standard form which they fill out each day, or week, or whatever - you can design your own.

Thanks hsmm, I'm sure it will all fall into place soon Smile
