CMs - Accident Forms

Just want to check something..............some time ago I decided not to buy NCMA forms any more so made up my own accident form (with a body diagram etc) and have been using them since. I thought parents had to be given a copy so have been emailing a scanned copy to the parents once they've signed it (even though they don't want it!). Having gone back to the EYFS booklet, it just mentions records and nowhere does it say about giving the parent a copy (not even under the 'have regard for' section). So, my question is, before I stop giving copies, am I right that I don't have to or have I missed something?

Thanks :)

I offer them to parents and give them a copy if they want one. They know they can ask for a copy any time

Yeh, for minor injuries, I think that would fine, as long as they are signed. For major injuries than a copy to the parent is advisable., so they take it to the docs or hospital.

Great. That's what I was thinking (giving a copy if more serious accident so they have the detail should they need advice/treatment after). And of course parents would always be welcome to have a copy at any time, just most don't (and used to throw away their bit when I had the carbon copies!).

Thanks :)
