Very Happy With New Nanny

I just wanted to come on here to say thank you for the advice and support at the end of last year when I was having quite a hard time sorting out my childcare situation. Our childminder had given me notice as she'd decided doing school pick ups was too much for her, and although financially it was going to be a bit harder, I decided that finding a good nanny was going to be the best solution. I went through the whole advertising process and had a few false starts - one changed her mind about a week after accepting the job, and one turned out to have false references. However, the nanny I now have is definitely the best person for the job. It makes life so much easier to have someone who comes to the house when you need them and who your children like and respect. Tonight I had to work late. It is the first time it has happened since she started and had let her know in advance that I would need her to stay an extra hour or so. She usually gives the kids their dinner and I do bathtime when I get in but tonight she did the whole lot and I came in to find them all ready for bed having had their story and ready to go to sleep. So, it's a good news story, having the right nanny really has made life easier. The kids are happy and settled, I am happy and I think that our nanny is happy too - at least I hope so, now my only fear is that she might leave us......

This is really lovely to read, and I hope you both continue to work fabulously together Smile

So lovely to hear stories like this.

I know most parents are really busy and after a long day at work, a late dinner and few household jobs, they really don't have the time or energy to type a long post about the things their nanny/other childcare do right and how happy they are with them. BUT it would be nice if they would.

If a parent is looking for childcare and comes on to mumsnet, some of the horror stories might scare them off! There are some wonderful, caring nannies out there, I know, I've met lots!

If they could see that there are some happy bosses with fab nannies, it might put them more at ease.

My boss tells me that she's really happy with me. She also tells all her friends ( who we see a lot of!) so I get feed back there. She thanks me a lot and calls me a star, etc a lot!

Of course I can't ask her to post on here because then I'd know her nickname!

It's lovely to hear an employer speak highly of their nanny.

I am not sure how I would have coped without our nanny. I was diagnosed with cancer when dd2 was 2 weeks Old. Thank god I kept her on as her care for the girls (ESP when had limited newborn experience) and her support/help to me has been a godsend.

Just thought I would add in my good story too
