I LOVE my mindees parents

I was supposed to be taking a week off soon as it's my 30th Birthday and I really liked the idea of some time off for it. HOWEVER, I told parents that I no longer needed the time off as I couldn't afford it with dh loosing his job etc.

Guess what, last night mindees mum said I've got the week off anyway and get paid for it . How GREAT is that!! It just so happens that mindees birthday is day before mine and it's half term so her step brother is coming to stay. This meant them either taking time off work or paying for me to have him too. Of course it made more sense for them to take time off! I'm still working the day before as my new 6 month old is starting that day but it's only one day then the rest of the week off!

Sorry to brag, just really really chuffed I've told dh he's in SOLE charge of ds that day - what on earth am I going to do with no children to look after???? I've decided to have a long soak in the bath (not done this for about a year) with little candles but what other things are there to do which doesn't involve toddlers???

TP - before you say it, yes, I will be eating chocolate!!

Yes, I have the same problem, given some vouchers at christmas by a set of parents-just don't know what to spend them on!

meet up with a mate and be a lady who lunches for a day!

HellyBelly · 31/01/2006 13:40

That's an idea - wish I knew someone who didn't work. I've got one person I can think of but she's just had twins and they are a bit poorly so may have to play it by ear - love the idea though

Helly, I'd be your lady for lunch

But I'm being a lady who's only working two days a week, so funds won't permit

Enjoy whatever you decide to do.

LoveMyGirls · 31/01/2006 16:24

book in to get your hair/ nails done as a birthday treat and enjoy!!!!!

HellyBelly · 31/01/2006 16:42

That sounds nice. I'd really love a massage, haven't had one of those for ages!!

I'll have a think as to be honest, I've told dh not to buy anything this year due to him being out of work and we cancelled our plans for the night out etc. BUT...........I have a new baby starting on 14th which will be an extra £42 a week PLUS I have a lady coming round tomorrow who's pretty defo going to take me for Wednesday's as her current childminder recommended me so if that works out, that will be another £30 on top each week starting the Wednesday after my birthday SO.........maybe I can have a little treat like a hair cut??? Gosh, that would be in a proper salon and everything wouldn't it - oh how I miss the days when I'd have a lovely hair wash & cut in my lunch break - it's now always a wet cut (me washing it) in my lounge

Think I need to do some grovelling to dh later (he wasn't happy about not buying me anything special for my big 30 - I could say this is HIS treat to me )

Chocolate spread on toast for breakfast; shopping for a couple of hours (and haircut) and a nice, hot chocolate in a coffee house; lunch somewhere yummy (and a slice of chocolate cake); afternoon massage, followed by another hot chocolate; and you can borrow my chocolate candle for your soak in the bath. And, for later, perhaps dh could invest in some of that chocolate paint stuff for bodies ... SORTED!!

Oh TP, you never fail to make me laugh!! Dh liked the sound of the last thing . I think I'm managing to work on him, just need to decide what to do (although when we talked earlier, I was saying about going to town with him and ds but HE would be in total charge and any naughtyness from ds would result in dh having to take him out whilst I browse round the shop! ) Got some great ideas from here so thanks! Just pleased to have the day off to be honest
