Hi,
I'm about to start a new nanny job in Sweden and really need to be on top of my game!
3 boys, Age 5, 3 and 20 months, very outdoorsy family, as they live on a farm which suits me fine.
However does anyone have any unique ideas for crafts / ongoing activities etc??!!
Already decided to start a scrap book diary etc but any other ideas suggestions would be great!

A book on insects and/or animals local to the area, and see if you can spot them when out and about.

A small veggie/flower plot, including some fast growing things.

Scap book for leaf collecting, putting in a new leaf, older leaf, dry leaf changing colour, some seed pods, etc, and putting something interesting in about the tree they come from - what animals like to live in it, whether they have particular seeds, etc.

Building a tree house or cubby house? That would be fun if you had the skills or if the parents could be persuaded to help.

Some cheap digital cameras, or if they have their own child friendly ones, get them to take photos of their farm, of the animals and/or plants.

They could even enter some competitions, the 5 year old certainly could. A lot of the horticultural/photography shows have children's sections.

Scavenger hunt with pictures (I don't think they start to read til 6/7 in Sweden), 5/10 objects they have to find.
My two boys like making fairy houses in the roots of trees with sticks and flowers etc.
Making stone people out of stones with googly eyes and felt hats.
obstacle courses
Making a wormery? its fairly easy.
Both my boys last year loved the butterflies we hatched from catterpillers, maybe its something that you could take as a present.
