Childcare in Essex - is this feasible?

I'm looking for someone to care for my two little ones for just one day a week - ideally in my home. Is this totally unrealistic or has this worked for anyone else?

I would be happy to accommodate other children into the arrangement say for example if the nanny / mother's help had a child of their own.

I used to nanny children in their own homes.
one home had just one baby girl, another one had a boy 7 and a girl 3, and the last one had 4 girls ranging from 4yrs to 11yrs, they also had 1 boy just under two. Mostly the hours were around 8am-6pm

I'm also in Essex, I would ring around various agencies and see what they can offer, although they're not cheap, you get a variety of carers.

Thanks Carly and Mumatuks - any advice on searching for a nannyshare?

You could put wanted advert on Nursery World website, which is also read by nanntys not just nursery nurses!

I am in Danbury, about 7 miles from Chelmsford. I have contacted several agencies but they all feel that just one day is very tricky. I will take your advice and put up an advert. Thanks

Ah Danbury, I've heard of there as my DH ex boss lived there!

I would've thought some smaller agencies would've quite happily done part time work! If I lived nearer I'd do it! Might also be worth browsing the jobs wanted bit in there too, you never know you might not have to put up an advert!

Hope it works out, if I think of anything else in the mean time I'll let you know.

I used to live in Maldon. There are lots of nanny round their who might work part time and want just one or two days. Try an ad in the coop or the Chronicle.
