How do you find a nanny?

Where do you advertise to find candidates for a nanny share in Surrey/Outer SW London? Any suggestions welcomed as I have no idea where to start!

Are there agencies who provide candidates? If so, what do they charge?

My employer found me on Gumtree.co.uk

Nannyjob.co.uk
Childcare.co.uk
Netmums local childcare board

Those places are probably where I would initially look.

If no joy, then also add
Gumtree.com
Consider using an agency - select nannies covers some parts of Surrey/London border area.

Nanny agencies are very, very expensive and don't really do anything you couldn't do yourself (interview, check references, certificates etc.).

I've found my last 2 jobs on Gumtree. Gumtree can be great, but you will get a huge volume of replies, a lot of which will probably not be what you're looking for.

Nannyjob and Childcare.co.uk also good.

I would advise you to open a new email account just for the purpose of corresponding with applicants as you're likely to get loads of replies and may also get spam etc. from nanny agenices who have seen your ad, that way it can be kept separate and not clog up your personal email.
