I work varying days between monday to sunday but always 30 hours pr week, my boss initially was giving me 6 weeks paid holiday per year, now she says she thinks this is too much, I told her that I thought it was 28 days per year ad she says she will find out, does anyone know how much I am meant to get PAnum working 30 hours a week every week?
Thanks Smile

When you say you work varying days but always 30 hours, do you mean some weeks you work 30 hours over 4 days and sometimes 30 hours over 3 days? - so different amount of days each week. Or do you always do a set amount of days just on differing days each week?

If it's the 1st then holiday needs to be calculated in hours. If the 2nd then holiday can be calculated in days.

Current minimum holiday is 28 days per year including bank holidays. But if you work 4 days per week then it is pro rata'd so you would actually get 22.4 days. This can be rounded up but not down.

Personally I'd calculate that in hours so 5.6 weeks by 30 hours is 168 hours over the year (instead of the 180 for 6 weeks).

What would concern me more is your boss agreeing one thing and backtracking Hmm what does your contract say?

I don't have a contract Blush
Yes it's the latter nbee, I always work 30 hours but on differing days of the week in accordance with their own business commitments that week.
I have been with this family full time since March last year so we are running my hols from March to March, with new annual leave starting this March, I just wish I knew which it was so I could book holidays.
Thanks for your help

You need a Written Statement as well which contains your agreement with regard to working hours, holiday entitlement, salary, general duties, notice period. It is supposed to be given to an employee within 2 months of starting the job.

More about Written Statements, Holiday Entitlement and other employment related things can be found on Direct.gov.uk
