OFSTED registered nanny needs advice

I am an OFSTED registered nanny for 1 family - I have been there over 2 years full time so know the family/dynamics etc - I am also live in.

This morning my charge who is 4.6 told me that a family member had hurt them. If a child at nursery had told me this I would write it down and inform the parents. Do I need to do this as an OFSTED registered nanny and how on earth do I tackle this as obviously I am part of their daily life and live in their home etc. The incident wasn't serious however ....

Please could you advise as to what I need to do and how to broach it with my employers.

tell the parents
tell them as soon as possible
was the child marked in any way?
if so take a photo
if there is anything you are worried about take to dr now so that you dont get the blame for it
anything sex related straight to dr for back up

I think it really depends on what they told you, if it was something like 'daddy smacked me last night' then no but if it was something like 'Uncle blabla kicked me' then yes I would speak to the parent about it. If it was something bad about one of the parents I wouldnt talk to that parent that has been accused I would talk to the other one.

Write it down faithfully - what they said, when, who was there etc within interpretation. Include any photos. Keep one copy for your records and mail yourself (in an envelope which would be obvious if it had been tampered with) another copy. That's your backup if it comes to a court case or something.

I would actually mention it to the parents in a querying kind of way - X mentioned this (and had a bruise/seemed very upset) so I just wanted to make you aware.

Oh and I would do this even if it wasn't serious in case it was the start of a pattern.
