Tax changes from April 2012

Yesterday George Osborne announced changes to income tax and national insurance from April 2012. These will have a small effect on parents and carers.

Nannies
Most nannies will pay £3.26 a week less tax and NI. If they are on a net pay contract, this saving will go to the employer.

Nanny employers
Most nanny employers will pay £1.10 a week less National Insurance.

Childminders
Most childminders will pay just over £150 a year less tax and NI overall.

My Tax and NI calculator has been updated with the new allowances.

Mrancovy, I'd like to say a huge thanks for your tax calculator too! It even helped me to negotiate a payrise. Thank you!
