Hi

I am a nanny and been with a family almost a year... I was wanting to know if what other nannies are getting per hour?

And also there holiday entitlement??

I'm starting to have a few disagreements with my family as she keeps changing the rules when she likes!

Would be very grateful of your advice!

Thanks

Clubfrog you are not the only one with these problems, i'm also being paid under min wage although my situation is slightly different its still not right.
As everyone said to me you need to sit down with your employer and talk about everything, have a pen and paper and show her that she is not paying you enough and that getting home late isn't right.
I'm having my meeting tonight 'gulp' but i am quite looking forward to it because i might start getting paid enough and treated a bit better. and if they don't like it then it might be worth finding a family who are a bit more accomodating. Also demand a contract, it really is important
Good luck

Good luck if you do have your sit down. I had my meeting tonight...a day late but thats ok. ended in the two parents getting into a domestic and him asking me to leave as i said something wrong apparently that made MB mad at him. But She did say the two of us can have a sit down Friday night and discuss everything without him as we will probably have a better time of it.

Just keep documenting everything, and remember that you are worth a decent salary with a decent contract and a loving family, and at some point things will get better :) x

Sorry to hear that! I also say down with mines yesterday and TRIED to talk about the pay and holidays, I was made feel so little and that they were doing me a favour and that there was no way to could pay me minimum wage or paid holidays. During our conversation every few mins she was getting up and using her phone and making calls! I have documented the hole conversation! I'm not going to win with this family and I am not appreciated, I know I'm worth a lot more including respect!

Today I was to take the kids to mother an toddlers but when I got in I was TOLD I wasn't allowed to go out today at all!

Sorry to hear it didn't go so well club frog (and nanny nat)- not all employers are like this .

NannyNat · 24/11/2011 16:53

Clubfrog you deserve to be treated much better than this, i think you should look for another family because the one you work for really dont deserve you. There will be a family out there who do treat you well and respect you. And dont forget if they refuse to pay you min wage you should ring the people at direct gov (the number is on the website) they legally have to and action can be taken by other people to make them x

Thanks everyone for your support. I am looking for another family as I know I don't deserve to be treated this way! Really appreciate the help!
