Childminders: Am i expecting too much from my 3 yr olds??

One of the 3yrs olds i look after has no manners, and doesn't listen to anything say, he has to be prompted to say please and thank you. If i ask him something, he often ignores me, and he can hear me. but if iask him what i just said, he says "don't know".

Am i expecting too much from him, should children of this age have manners and do as they're told, or even listen??

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Sounds like one of my 8yr old mindees!!

Sounds like my 2 1/2 year old DD (3 in March) who is currently driving me crackers!

Is he a new mindee? If yes, you'll just have to work on him for a bit longer!

I think you sound a bit harsh to me. Sorry. You sound as if you really don't like him, and he sounds like every three year old I know.

Sounds like a pretty typical 3 year old.

The prisoner, no he's not new, he's been with me for over 12 months.

Aloha - very sorry if it comes across as though i don't like him, that is far from the truth, he is a treasure and I like him very much, maybe he's going through a phase of testing me. The reason I am asking is because i have looked after many 3 year olds in my career and he is the first one that i have come across who is like this. I am well aware that all children are different and their background, family and lifestyle makes a big difference to how they behave.
