Hi ladymary I am with sitters and i was much more checked out than nanny agencies I have been with.

Hi, we've used them a lot. Very good, all sitters very well checked out. Once you've had a sitter, you can ask for them again, so you build up a list of favorites - ie not a leap in the dark after the first couple of times.

As with any sitters, if they seem odd when you chat to them when they turn up, you can always change your mind (or just not ask for them again). Just plan a low key/nearby night out the first couple of times to build up your confidence.

Sorry, just seen it's for work. Bit expensive for a long term childcare solution I would think?

I would be wary. Our ex nanny working for them, she lied about something's on her application. I made them aware and they still registered her! She was using our address as her home which it wasn't and lied about the duration of her employment.

Hi everybody just to answer a few queries about sitters...I work as a sitter and up until recently was an area co ordinator , interviewing and checking refs. Every sitter is verified by two references.generally using their most recent employer. The area co ordinator speaks to the referee to ensure that all info is accurate. If this info isn't correct our the AC has a feeling that things are amiss then the applicant is declined......it's a thorough procedure and as an AC you always ask yourself would u want this person to look after your children? I love my role as a sitter and know that some of the people that I have given positions to are as dedicated to the cause as much as I am. It is daunting pouting your precious children in a sitters care but I would instantly recommend sitters.co.uk.

I've used them for about 5 years, daytime as well as evening for all three of my children 0-5. We've had a couple of issues with sitters not turning up, but the company has been very apologetic and generally been happy.
I think the advice about having a couple of low key evenings first before a biggie is really good.
