Hi there, When I speak to new parents I say I take 4 weeks per year off. I took a couple of days at the beginning of June, and 6 days in summer hols. A new family started in June, so i only took a week in the summer.
Am worried about saying I will be having two weeks off during christmas. Second week - no fee.
Is this ok. Holiday has now been booked as husband wanted to book whilst good deal with flights.
I have a cm friend who can do cover. These two families have grans that some times look after their grand children.
Just feel bad.
I feel I have provided a very good service - its all been positive, and I worked my day off this week, and am flexible.
I would like to know your thoughts please

I have to give my annual leave request for over Christmas in by the beginning of October so I always ask our CM before then if she has any idea what she'll be doing over Christmas so that I can base my leave request around the childcare that we will have available. I find that friends are never very willing / able to help out on Christmas Eve or between Christmas and New Year.

Our contract states that our CM only needs to give us 4 weeks notice of her holidays, but if she'd originally said that she'd be taking x amount of time off and then changed it to y when I'd specifically asked her I'd be left in a really difficult situation with work. Saying that there would be nothing that I could do providing that it was within the terms of our contract.

OP - what you're planning sounds fine, especially as you've not already been asked by any of your parents what you'll be doing over the festive period.

Have a great trip!
