Have any of you ever minded at weekends? Due to circumstances atm i am considering an offer to work 9.30am till 6ish sat and un but as i've never worked at the weekend what would be a fair fee to charge? Don't want to overcharge the parent but i will be giving up weekend for work so have to earn a reasonable amount of money to make it worth my while. I'm in scotland so anyone ever done it?

I used to mind on an occasional Sunday until recently for 2 children. I earnt £80 for the day (9 to 5). This wsn't quite time & a half, but as it was for 2 & only occasionally I didn't worry. I think if it was going to be regular & both days I would charge at least time & a half possibly double time on a Sunday.

I just won't do it - cos I work hard enough mon - fri

But for a special one off

eg wedding/exam I have - butonly on the understanding that it was one off

I think it is in the terms of my planning permission that I only work week days

Have only ever minded at weekends as a one-off for existing mindees. Have charged normal weekday rate, but last time I ever did a weekend was about 8 years ago! If I did it now, would cost parents a fortune because I really value my time-off now, and it would really really have to be financially worth my while (unless it was an emergency, when I'd probably do it for free!!)
