I've read through alot of the previous posts about nannies and am quite daunted at how many people go through more than one nanny before they hire one that they are happy with. Thats the last thing I want to happen.
I've also noticed lots of reccommendations for nanny agencies in the South of England...but can anyone reccommend one for the North-East?
Regarding sick days, one agency said that its best to pay the nanny full pay if its just one or two days sick......is that the norm??

Hi - I have just been through this and have just hired my first nanny so am only speaking from limited experience as she doesn't start for a bit. I was looking for a thread like this for some advice so I am glad you started one. I was looking in the south east and I used yell.com to find nanny agencies. I enquired with 4 and used 2 but they didn't come up with anyone very suitable and the placement fees would have been huge. I got desperate and put an add in nannyjob.co.uk. It cost £10. I had about 10 applicants and I interviewed 4 of them and took one on. Needed to check the references and sort out the CRB check myself but I was really pleased. The web site also suggests interview questions and has a sample contract. I think there is a web site linked up with mumsnet as well but I found that one less user friendly.

Will have to see if it works out now.

Good luck
