Childminder Club: Want to incorporate activities for Christmas with Hannukah

Hi all

We have made paper Christmas trees for mindees to make and place decorations on but one mindee will celebrate Hannukah - so would dearly like to incorporate this into our activities as well. Any ideas on what I could do - anyone have any good websites that I could visit. I would like to make a Menorah or should I buy one ? I have read up on the history of Hannukah so have a very basic knowledge of what it's about - we will also make Latkes too - hope that doesn't make me sound too ignorant!! Anyone any ideas?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

sounds like you are doing great!

recommended to me by youth worker at synagogue for small children is drawing a Hanukkiah. Child puts his/her hands flat on the paper with thumbs together, and someone else draws round the two hands (or child draws round one hand at a time). There you have a Hanukkiah with the 8 candles to light during the festival plus the ninth candle to use as the source of flame for them (the thumbs). Then cut out or stick on pre-cut flames for the candles.

haven't checked this out yet but try www.torahtots.com/holidays/chanuka/chanuk.htm
