What do Childminders mean in the way of offering Emergency Care?

When I see CM's adevrts in shop windows, sometimes they say they offer emergency care. Does this mean they offer one-off midning sessions or does it mean that it offers emergency care for mindees that the CM already looks after?

I have a situation where I require my baby to be looked after for one off morning. All my friends work on that particular day, as do family. I'm in a new area and so know no-one else I can ask. I'd hate to look a fool and ring a CM assuming they'd offer this kind of one-off minding.

Hi Beatie.

I offer this sort of care but word it differently in my adverts - I put Casual Care also available. I mean that if someone just needs me as a one off, I can do this (as long as I'm within my numbers!)

I would pressume someone putting this in a shop window would mean the same as me as if it was for a current mindee, they would just tell those parents.

Just my thoughts - call them, they can only say they can't help!

Good luck

Thanks. It's good to know.

Next question though... can CM's take babies younger than 3 months? My dd2 will be 12 weeks old.

Childminders can take ANY age child but not all minders choose to do this. I take from new born but some say 6 months, some say earlier, some say later - we're all different. You'll just have to ask!

The only problem would be if she already has an under 1 year old as we're only allowed one at a time!
