How much do you charge for Saturdays?

Ive been asked to childmind on Saturday for a 14 week old baby from 9.30 til 5pm.

I dont currently childmind this baby during the week but it is a possibility in the future. (I know them because I do their ironing!)

Im not sure how much to charge. My normal rate is 3.50 an hour but never had to do it on a weekends or bank holidays yet.

What do you think?

Also do I do a full contract for a one off like this?

I don't work weekends so not sure. As for contract, I personally would do a temporary thing on Word or something that is signed. I wouldn't want to waste a contract for a one off. I did this when one mindees mum wanted 4 extra days to the contract - it was very casual.

Maybe others would say different though?

I have never childminded at weekends either but I have stated in my portfolio that I would charge time and a half for hours outside normal working hours (mine are mon-fri 8-6) and double time for bank holidays.
Hope this helps, but ultimately it's up to you.

I charge double on saturdays and after 6.30pm!

Never had a problem with that.......but they do have to accept that the child will have to do our normal satuurday things..like visit friends etc

We pay £5.50/hour for a Saturday, but we are in the sticks!

I don't do contracts for occasional minding. I also don't work weekends, so would want loads of dosh to make it worth my while to give up part of my weekend!! My normal rate is £3.50/hour, so I would probably charge a minimum of £6.00/hour. I hope none of my minding parents are reading this, because they'll be shipping all their children over pronto (they're often asking me to have them at weekends!!)
