I have recently received my self-evaluation pack for my inspection and am getting a bit stressed about the whole thing! I feel there are parts of it that aren't relevant to my setting and wondering whether I can just say that on the form or whether I'm mis-understanding what info they want from me.

I need some hand-holding please and a little reassurance that it's going to be ok [wimp emoticon!] Grin.

okay

I am CM in England, so not familiar with CSSIW but am happy to try to interpret a question or two with you

post one at random, we can have a go at unpicking together?

mogs0 · 02/06/2011 19:47

Thanks, I'll be back later/tomorrow with the forms. I desperately need to tidy ds' room before BGT finishes and he needs to get in there to go to bed!!

Hiya

Yeah im a cssiw cm'er....I also have had my forms and pondering them lol...where abouts are you?

mogs0 · 05/06/2011 18:02

aconfusedmum - I'm not far from Cardiff, you?

5318008 - sorry it's taken a while to get back, my friend came to stay for the weekend!!

I've just got the forms out to make a start on them and I'm about ready to cry! It's all things I know but I hate having to put them down on paper. I'm feeling a little tired an emotional this evening so I'm going to put it all away and another look at it tomorrow when I'm a bit more alert.

I'm in the process of registering and have completed part 1 easily enough. Am too scared to look at part 2 though! NCMA do a mentoring session with us to help us complete part 2 so I'm going to get cracking after that...Would the NCMA offer you any help mogs0?

aconfusedmum · 06/06/2011 00:26

Hiya, I used to live in cardiff, but moved to the other side of caerphilly now....
if you want you can message me and ill give you my email addy x x

mogs0 · 06/06/2011 11:31

MrsGravy - I was just thinking about the NCMA and whether they could help me. I'm still recovering from part 2 after it took me an embarrassingly long time to complete Blush. I just have to get on and do it - I've been very organised with my time this morning and have counted out and bagged all the loose change I collect in a bucket Blush. I'll definitely make a start tonight as I have to send it back by the end of next week so time is limited!!

aconfusedmum - have you started filling in yours yet? I did the 1st bit last night but that was the easy bit of filling in when I have children etc.

I have just finished part two. I have a list of policies and procedures you need to do for each Standard if you would like it? I have had my mentoring session a while ago. Just putting my application together now ready to take down to Swansea.

Ask away!

MrsGravy · 10/06/2011 10:27

Julezboo, I might take you up on that actually! I have my mentoring session next week so if it looks like I need some help, I'll contact you on here if that's alright?

Julezboo · 10/06/2011 15:55

thats fine :) I can pm you my email address too :)

Julezboo · 23/06/2011 18:13

How's it going Mrs Gravy?

MrsGravy · 21/07/2011 20:55

Sorry Julezboo, this disappeared before I ever had a chance to answer it. Just been looking it up again as I'm nearly done with my application. Bloody hell, it's hard going though. I swear my English degree was easier.

I've got 2 more sections to fill in then I just need to go through it all with a fine tooth comb to make sure I've answered everything and jazz up my statement of purpose/policies so that they're suitable for prospective parents.

I guess you're waiting for an inspection?

mogs0 · 21/07/2011 21:43

MrsGravy - I had my inspection nearly 2 weeks ago and it was so much better than I could ever have imagined. After sending back the half-filled forms the day before they were due back, I had convinced myself that I'd be de-registered by the Summer holidays Grin.

I only realised the day I was sending the forms back that I needed a hard-copy of the new NMS to be able to fill in the forms properly. One day I'll be more organised and keep on top of all the paperwork not really very likely.

I'm probably not the best person to ask but, if you have any questions about your application, I'd be happy to help if I can.

Thanks so much mogs0. Really it's just a case of ploughing my way through it now I think. Glad the inspection went well. I'm not even worrying about that yet, everything I've heard suggests that it can take between 6-9 months round here for them to inspect you!! Was that your experience?

mogs0 · 21/07/2011 21:54

I had my reg cert in August 2010 and was inspected mid July! The main reason it took so long was because of the new NMS coming in in April. They wanted to inspect as many as possible on the new standards.

MrsGravy · 21/07/2011 22:03

Bloody hell! That is a long time. It's amazing anyone makes it through the process really.

mogs0 · 21/07/2011 22:07

I know!!

Also, inspector said they'll send out the same forms next year and, depending one how well I fill them in, they might not do another inspection for up to 3 years. They won't tell me whether they're likely to be coming or not and will still send the forms annually.

hi can anybody help me please in part to of cssdo we just write policies or do me answer the questions them to i am confused

LingDiLong · 17/01/2012 12:25

You do both. Which does mean some duplication of what you're writing. Have you a contact in the NCMA at all? We had someone who helped us through the whole process, she was great.
