September start for best CMs?

Currently have nanny and was initially going to keep her on until January. The plan was then to switch to a CM.

If I wait until Jan will I have missed out on the most popular CMs? Do the main vacancy options coincide with the start of the school year? I love my nanny so much but dont want to get to the stage that I am stuck for a CM if I dont have them start until the new year.

grateful for any experience on this

Every area different, but I'm a cm and get enquiries all year round. Would recommend you start looking soon though as I've got baby starting in August and another in January, both been registered with me since March. Good cms tend to fill up vacancies quickly.

Sort of. If a CM has children who are starting school then a vacancy may becaome available in Sept (closer to Oct actually by the time settling in days at full time school have finished) but lots of moment at other times of the year also.

I wouls suggest you start looking now (I've started getting enquiries for Sept already) and see what the availablility is of the ones you like. It's the only way you're going to find out to be honest because every area is different.

I wouldn't wait either. I'm vacancy coordinator for our local CM group & am getting lots of enquiries now for July & September starts. I have 2 children leaving to start school in Sept but as they have term time only contracts they leave in July so I will have spaces from then, and other cms may be in the same situation. I usually get a flurry of enquiries around Christmas early January too & another late March early April - definitely a pattern
