Sorry, my 2nd thread about a thread but all my own threads!

CMs, if you were to agree to pick up and mind a child for 2 nights a week after school from Sept now, what sort of retaining fee/deposit would you charge?

One CM mentioned a refundable deposit, but someone on here got me thinking about whether I would need to start paying now.

TIA

Hiya..

I'm a childminder and at present I charge 2 weeks full fees to act as a deposit for the place, this then gets used as their notice fee when they end their contrct with me.

If however they change their mind about care its non refundable.

I thought about the retainer as a parent as well as a minder and thought " Would I be able to find more than 2 weeks fee's in advance?" .. Retainers are ok but they can work out quite costly and can result in you not gaining the business at the end of the day.

Hope this helps.

Pippa :)
