I feel like im asking millions of questions on here lately...sorry everyone!!!!

Just wondered if you all give out receipts each week? or does it get forgotten after a while? Is it important?

I never used to give receipts unless asked, but I do now. More parents are claiming childcare tax credits & are expected to keep their receipts to back up their claims. One of my mums keeps her receipts as her employer pays some of it - others just want them to keep track of their finances.

If you don't give out a receipt every time can you prove

  • that a parent owes you money (if they think they've already paid you)
  • what income you've had (if the tax office want to investigate your tax return)

Hi juliaemma

I always write out a receipt once they have paid me, be it monthly or weekly, as much for my own peace of mind as for the parents.

Dont worry about asking lots of questions - I think I could match you in the asking lots of questions stakes!

I have only been reg for a couple of months now, so I still have lots to learn!

I issue parents with a bill each week (using carbon duplicate pad from Smiths), and write "paid" on their top copy and on my copy (still in the book) when it's paid.
