Does anyone know how much you have to earn before you start paying tax?

Hi the personal allowance for 05-06 is £4895. just remember you can earn over this as you need to take off expenses

It depends on what your tax code is. The £4895 only applies if your tax code is 489L If it's not the amount will be different!

Oh right! Where will I find that then? On a P45 or something?

yes it will be on your P45. Or a P60 if you have one - your last employer should have given you one around April/May time.

ok thanks sweetheart! (sound like my mum there!)

I will go and dig it out!
