Where does one find a childminder?

My friend has no idea where to find one for her 1year old DD. She has asked around but those she knows who use minders don't know of any vacancies.

Where does she look please?

How about trying the families information service - FIS, or google childminders in....(the name of your town).
Do you have a sure start centre, as they would have a list. Hope this helps.

www.childcare.co.uk is a good one but your local FIS will have a proper list of all childminders in your area. You used to be able to search on a government website but this facility has just been removed.
