Got certificate, filled first vacancy, now what??

So i have just agreed to take on a school pick up and the mum is coming back next week to fill out all the contract, forms etc. Now what else do i do?
I have not informed my house insurance of any Difference..do i need to? Also, do i tell inland revenue before or after i start, and what do they do? Anything else i need to do? Thanks.xxxx

I'd inform IR there a tel no (on their website) quite soon (you have to within 3 months of earning)

I would inform your household Ins
Check that your car Ins covers for business use
I think you have to inform your mortgage company as well

yep i did all that but with your insurance for the house beware one company cancelled mine on the spot!

Dont know if i am allowed to say but direct line do good insurance just in case you are in the uninsured position tomorrow.

If your child benefit book is in your name - you might want to register as having a small income for NI purposes (as you will have home responsibilities protection)

I pay about £2 a week NI plus 7% of my profits as DH has the CB book
