Childminders Club: I'm off sick today, am I allowed to work tomorrow??........

Hi
Had a bad cold and let parents know over weekend so they were aware - all fine to still have kids which is great.
Last night, felt really sick so went to bed early. Woke up at 2am and was throwing up lots (sorry if TMI) so didn't sleep again. Also started coming out of other end (D) and felt so rough I decided I couldn't look after 5 children today. I thought was something I'd eaten but when I phoned round, one mindee's mum said he had been sick all weekend, another mum said she had been ill last night. Now presume it's a bug.
I've lost over £90 for not working today so really wanted to be back to it tomorrow.
Not being sick anymore but still got runs. If I feel better tomorrow, am I allowed to work or do I have to wait til I've been better 24 hours?
One mum has just texted me to say she presumes I'm off again tomorrow to recover properly and wishes me well. Really sweet but I'm now wondering what to do about tomorrow (loose another £90+?)
Any advice? This is first time I've had D & V since childminding although I've had every cold the kiddies have caught - still work but D & V is different.
Off to lie down now but will check for replies later.
Many Thanks

Helly hope you feel better soon, from the food hygiene course i recentley went on you have to wait 24 hours after d/v or get dh to prepare all food and drink in beakers/vase and wash hands lots of be very careful.

Hi HellyBelly

Sorry to hear youve not been feeling well. Hope you feel better after your lay down! I dont really know what to suggest, but I think you should wait until 24 hours since your last bout just to make sure incase it is a bug (which it sounds like!) and to make sure you are really better! I know its a PITA with regards to the money, but you might make yourself more ill and then end up losing more money (iyswim!).

Anyway, sorry no proper advice to give - hope you are feeling better soon!

xx

I think, technically, you are advised to wait 24 hours. However, if you've all had the same bug, it's hardly going to matter!

If you feel better, then I think I would probably leave it up to the parents. I think my minding parents would ship them all back to me(actually, I know they would ship them all back to me!!)

Hope you feel better already

Thanks guys. I decided last night to tell all parents I wouldn't be working today as I was worried about the spread of germs. Major money lost but I suppose it gives me today to build my strength up again - not felt that ill for ages!

I feel that I could have had the kiddies today and just told parents I'd be quite lazy as no energy but I thought I shouldn't (didn't see your post til this morning Theprisoner).

Anyway, probably best this time that I didn't as one mindee didn't have any sign of it, another's mum had it but not the mindee and the other mindee who was ill, well I have his brother too and he was fine.

Obviously I'm annoyed about the loss as one of these people would have given it me in the first place but hey, guess this is a taste of things to come being a childminder

Off to lay down again and drink my complan (yuck) - thanks for your posts.
