How long is a piece of string?

Anything from 4 weeks to 6+ months. The longest I've heard of was over a year (but that was exceptional)!

The biggest sticking point is the CRB check. If the nanny has had a check done by OFSTED in the last 3 years it will be much quicker.

Other common problems are not having the right first aid certificate, names on documents not matching the names given on the form and not completing the form correctly.

It also depends whether it's one of the forms that OFSTED checks in minute detail or not. Experience seems very variable in this respect - some people manage to get through with virtually no checks done on the form, others are asked to forward additional evidence e.g. proof of liability insurance or common core.

Thanks Snap. She already had a CRB check, but now they want another one done. She has sent the CRB form off again last week, so how long do you think it will take now?

How long ago was her previous CRB done and how long did it take?

That's not a reliable indicator as they have to redo everything, but it might give an idea as some areas are quicker than others at passing on the information. This is a fairly good time of year for a CRB to be done IMO - the summer months are very bad as teachers changing jobs need redoing and students who are on courses which require a CRB are being processed as well.
