Desperately in need of babysitter in a regular basis in manchester - how do I find one?

Thats it really. Never had a babysitter. Had friends once or twice, but need a professional in a somewhat regular basis. How do I find one? What is the etiquette on getting references, and check their interactions with the kids? Would it be rude to oggle over the sitter a couple of times?
TIA

Hi Lua

Check out www.childcarelink.gov.uk/index.asp

You can put in your post code and get back a list of registered childminders in your area. Some of them will babysit in the evening for I don't know around £6 an hour or so.

Or, look at www.nannyjob.co.uk It's a nanny site (obviously) but I think they have a section for babysitting as well.

Or.... you could always join sitter.
