Have found a childminder we really like for baby however 3wks after baby starts she will be on holiday for 2wks - not an issue in the sense I will just take annual leave from work but wondered if anyone would think it an issue for settling in? Could more settling in sessions prior to starting prevent any problems?

I was thinking it maybe good in a sense as baby has 3wks of going then a little break and back again, will be doing 3 days a week.

Its only annual leave she takes as she only takes 2wks a year (not same 2wks its different each yr) and then some odd days but she tries to take these around her mindees - but again its not a problem to me as will just take leave myself as needed.

So after that long waffle my q is would a 2wk break so soon after starting being a problem for settling in?

I think it would be fine :)

Maybe if you are worried you could maybe ask your CM if you could maybe pop round one afternoon when she is not busy (if she is not going away that is) just for half an hour or something to keep it fresh in your babies memory? If it was me and i wasnt going away i would say yes, or of course i would suggest it lol

Thanks she is going away has booked a hol she is lovely and is actually full at the moment until a month before we need her so obv a good childminder otherwise wouldnt be full.

I think I will suggest we do more "settling in" sessions prior to him going to her than we would have done had she not been going away at the start - am sure she will be fine with that as she is very easy going.

My boys went to CM's for 3 weeks and then we broke for 1 week over Christmas, wasn't an issue at all for us.

Thanks we have chosen to go with her.
