Tasks for a Mothers Help

Our Mother's help has just started with us. We previously employed a nanny, who was great. As she was sole charge there were few times we were together. However, this time we are togethe all the time. What sort of tasks do other people ask their Mothers Helps to undertake?

This is her first job, she has never worked with children which was what we were looking for as the role in one of support but just wanted to clarify - support with what?

you can ask her to do any light household tasks

i wouldnt expect her to clean the oven or defrost the freezer for example

its normal for mothers helps to:
run the hoover and duster round
sweep and mop the floor
clean bathrooms
deal with household laundry and ironing
make / change beds
wipe down kitchen surfaces after meals
load / unload dishwasher
sterilise / make bottles.

in terms of looking after the children, (and you havent said how old they are) perhaps playing with them, Making simple lunches, beans on toast, jacket potatoe etc.

in time you could leave her with the children while you go to gym / go shopping / have hair appt etc.

once she gets used to your children, and they get used to her, she should be fine looking after them for a few hours
