Can't advertise our childminding vacancies now?

Am I right in assuming we can no longer advertise our childminding vacancies/businesses/websites on mumsnet now?

It seems greatcare.co.uk is where we are supposed to do this...?

Thought it is a shame really, I've just been on and done a search for childminder in south east London and there are no results...but I know there are a lot on mumsnet that fall into that category.

Try the nannyshares thread ,theres a few childminder adverts on it.

RTKMonherBROOMSTICK · 14/10/2005 12:30

where did it say you can't advertise childminding on mumsnet?????

I haven't seen it

katymac · 14/10/2005 12:51

Nor me......where does it say that?

katymac · 14/10/2005 12:57

I've emailed the MN team to ask them......so we will see

RTKMonherBROOMSTICK · 14/10/2005 13:19

glad I am not the only one KMc

As Childminders are self-employed, wouldn't it be classified as being a Small Business Ad?

Small Business Ads

There are some sites around that I know of which list childminders vacancies. Could post links but MumsNet may object (CAT me if you want them!).

MumsNet seems to have agreed a deal with GreatCare for listing Childcare Jobs, which isn't really the place for childminders to advertise in my opinion, more for parents looking for nannies and nurseries looking for staff.

katymac · 14/10/2005 14:20

We can normally advertise in this section for free.....we hope this hasn't changed

artyjoe · 14/10/2005 14:20

The thread that I used to go on to check out what childminder vacancies there are doesn't appear to exist any more and there is a new topic called 'childcare jobs' and this is where the greatcare.co.uk stuff is.

Maybe it's my screen that has gone wrong, can the rest of you find the link I'm talking about..., not childminders, nannies and au pairs, there was another one, can't remember what it was called word for word it was here this week!

Are you talking about a thread on MUMSNET??????

Or somewhere else

Am really confused now

HRHQoQ · 14/10/2005 14:24

is this the one you mean? has it changed name?

artyjoe · 14/10/2005 14:25

I know I'm sleep deprived but I'm not that bad! Of course Mumsnet! Maybe I'm the only one who flicked between the two topics...hellybelly used to advertise there, and it is where you'd see ads such as 'childminder needed in SE11' or the suchlike...I know i'm not halucinating!

OP posts:
kcemum · 14/10/2005 14:29

It has changed it's name, it is called nannyshares and still comes under the section that this thread is under.

RTKMonherBROOMSTICK · 14/10/2005 14:29

Right ok sorry I missed the new topic

NANNY SHARES

but I still don't understand

What you mean about childmimnders advertising that you have empty places????

RTKMonherBROOMSTICK · 14/10/2005 14:30

What you mean about childmimnders advertising that you have empty places????

Why can't that happen anymore ?????????

kcemum · 14/10/2005 14:32

Sure we can still advertise it's just that the thread title has changed.

artyjoe · 14/10/2005 14:33

I didn't say it couldn't happen, I said I 'assumed' it couldn't happen as the thread had gone...obviously it has been changed to Nanny Shares to it would seem panic over.

RTKMonherBROOMSTICK · 14/10/2005 14:35

ooooooh see told you I was being dim

sorry

HellyBelly · 14/10/2005 15:37

Not really been on MN for a while but I noticed the same and then saw that they were all on Nannyshare (well, all the adverts I've done for other childminders who's sites I've built are showing there anyway!).

Does seem silly to have renamed it - if we are still allowed our adverts then shouldn't it have childminders in there or just have what we had before with a seperate Nanny Share section???!!

katymac · 24/10/2005 19:20

I emailed MN about this and got the following reply.....

Sorry for the delay. We are encouraging childminders as well as nannies
and au pairs to advertise their availability on greatcare.co.uk. The
service is free to you and greatcare will give you greater exposure to
parents looking for child care. In the coming weeks, we will add a bit
more information about mumsnet's partnership with them to the boards.

If you have any thoughts about this, please do let us know. I did ask
about putting a searchable database of mn childminders on the board, but
the logistics were too much for us at this point. Sorry about that -
think it would have been a good thing for everyone and hopefully we'll
be able to do it in the future. In the meantime, however, it's fine to
put an ad on greatcare and mention it on mumsnet as we're doing a
partnership scheme with them.

What do you think?

TrulyScrumptious · 25/10/2005 10:57

Don't really understand why they had to change it... I've still got my ad on the Nanny Share thread but if I was a mum searching for a childminder I wouldn't think of looking there would you?

I'd better check out greatcare I suppose.....

HellyBelly · 25/11/2005 17:15

I've just put my CV on that Greatcare.co.uk - anyone else done this?

I don't think it's going to bring any enquiries IMO as it's a bit confusing. You go to the search CV's bit (if you are a parent) and then it comes up with drop down boxes 'like seeking a job as a.....' and then you can choose childminder and see the list of childminders. Funny wording for a parent I think - sounds more like searching for a job???

Also, the home page makes it look like it's more for Nannies/Day Nurseries etc

What do you think?

Tan1959 · 25/11/2005 23:18

I have too Hellybelly and I too have found it to he a little confusing....

Still no enquiries though

HellyBelly · 26/11/2005 00:50

have you seen the list of online places to advertise I put up earlier?

Tan1959 · 26/11/2005 10:46

Yes, I have thanks and am sifting through to see which ones I may have missed.

I've had another idea; I am going to pop into my local police and fire stations to make myself known to any possible shift workers who may need childcare! I have also left my name and number with my local hospital (the childcare co-ordinator) who has agreed to consider me if their childcare facility is full and put me forward for possible interim childcare but she already has two other childminders that they use first.

Good luck with finding a mindee to fill your vacancy - as I think I said previously, January is my cut off point, can't survive for longer than that with no proper income.

HellyBelly · 27/11/2005 16:33

Good luck and hope you find someone. Keep checking my list as I'm adding more idea's as I come across them!
