I only have her one day a week, mainly to do housework and school/nursery dropoff/pickups while I am supposed to be working at home, but she was hired as a Nanny/housekeeper. She's not up to that at ALL (extremely pooor English) but very local, hardworking and kind, so I am persevering, and she is better than nothing-I think.
DD2 is all right with her, but DD1 ignores her except to say, "Why don't you GO HOME now, XXX?". MH tries really hard, chasing her around with food which is rudely (and uncharacteristically) refused, trying to fix her hair etc to fierce looks and snarls from dd1. This didn't start right away but has developed, I think partly from my misguided efforts to include dd1 in my decisions about how best to use this person's skills as I discovered her strengths and weaknesses. Also MH is not very perceptive obviously!
She is still somewhat helpful with one kid, as she can i.e. play a bit with dd2 while I do homework with dd1. DD1 wants her OUT of the house, and not even with DD2! She can drive, but there isn't much to do nearby and I don't trust her to go too far away to unfamiliar places with toddler (can't operate carseat, or command enough respect IYKWIM when crossing road). Mostly she is only good for housework, and I am finding it hard to occupy her (without too much lengthy and repetitive explanation).
Has anyone ever had this get better?
