Another snow delay/extra fees question

Mindees' mum was supposed to finish work at 1pm but, because of the snow, the person taking over from her couldn't get there so she had to stay until 6pm. This wasn't a problem for me because I wasn't planning on leaving my house and the children were fine and happy to stay a bit longer.

I knew she had to go and pick her DH up too so offered to keep the children while she went incase she got stuck - the main road I live on has been awful today so had visions of her being stuck for hours with tired children in the back of the car.

So, I was planning to charge until 6 while she was still working but to offer the other 2 hours for free as I had offered to have them while she went to pick up her dh.

After reading another snow-related fees thread, I just wanted to check what others thought of my plan!

I think that is quite reasonable.

Very nice

Thanks! So I'm not BU for charging from 1 - 6 eventhough it wasn't really her fault she had to stay on in work?

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 21/12/2010 10:30

wow I think you are being nice not charging the extra 2 hours, I would thank god you would be able to do the extra work and pay you if you wanted. You are not doing her a favour it's your job IYSWIM.

hairyfairylights · 21/12/2010 12:36

it wasnt her fault she had to stay but it wasn't your fault either. I think you are being really generous in giving services for free. Grin

I would charge from 1-6. and it is very kind of you to offer to keep the DC till later and do it for free. If she had of asked you to of kept the mindee for those extra hours while she went to pick up her other child i would have charged, but as you offered i think that is nice of you to do it for free. Just make sure she knows it is a one off!!
