CRB Checks

Hi, can anyone offer advice on how I go about CRB checking myself as part of my Childminding set up process please ? I've gone onto the government CRB website but it's saying on there that I cannot request a check for myself but I need to be part of an umbrella organisation that can request one on my behalf. Is this the case ?

Thanks.

Assuming you're setting up as OFSTED reg childminder then OFSTED will do it for you and your EY team will assist with all steps of the process.

If not you may want to rethink the title 'childminder' as that has a very specific meaning.

Yep, I'm setting up as an OFSTED registered CM. The way it's looking, depending on how long it takes to get the CRB - I've heard it can take a while, I hope to be registered by the start of next year.

How far along the process are you?

Your EY team will be able to give you more info because it can differ from area to area. Start of next year is ambitious - that's 6 weeks to do the introduction course and the paeds 1st aid and get your CRB (plus anyone over 16 living with you) and have your initial inspection and get insurance...and...and...

It can be a very long wait so if you're in a rush definitely get onto your EY team.

I've completed the EYFS course, second part of the Safeguarding Chilren course next week, and 1st aid is this saturday and next saturday.

Had my first home visit and only have a few small things to fix after the recommendations from that visit. Not 100% sure how far along I am in the process, think I'll call the EY team.

Ofsted should send you the CRB forms once your applications forms are sent into them.

You can also ring Civil and Corporate and they will do it for you
